The federal police officer arrested this Tuesday morning (19) for being part of an alleged group with military personnel to carry out a coup d’état served in President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) security team during the government transition between November and December of 2022.
Federal Police investigations indicate that Wladimir Soares provided confidential information about Lula’s security structure to military personnel close to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and that could subsidize actions against the life of the then president-elect. There was a plan to execute it with the deputy, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), and minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
“The person being investigated, taking advantage of the duties inherent to his position in the period between the diploma and the inauguration of the elected government, passed on information related to President Lula’s security structure to people close to the then president Jair Bolsonaro, directly adhering to the coup attempt” , said the PF report sent to Moraes to authorize this morning’s operation.
According to the investigation, Soares acted as security at a hotel in Brasília where Lula held political meetings during the transition, and even said in messages, on December 20, 2022, that he was ready to act.
“My team and I have all the equipment ready to go and help defend the Palace and the President. All it takes is for the pen to go out”, he said according to the Federal Police’s reproduction in the report, in reference to Palácio do Planalto and Bolsonaro, respectively.
Wladimir Soares was removed from his role after being caught in the camp set up in front of the Army Headquarters in Brasília. The Federal Police were contacted by People’s Gazette to comment on the agent’s arrest, but preferred not to comment.
Investigations indicate that Wladimir was part of a group that discussed a detailed plan called “Green and Yellow Dagger” to execute Lula, Alckmin and Moraes by poisoning or chemicals, or even – in the case of the magistrate – with heavy weapons.
“The investigations indicate that the criminal organization used a high level of technical-military knowledge to plan, coordinate and execute illicit actions in the months of November and December 2022. Those investigated are, for the most part, military personnel with training in Special Forces ( FE)”, said the PF in the operation’s information note.
The seized documents show that the planning included the use of military and human resources, with advanced military techniques, in addition to the creation of an “Institutional Crisis Management Office” to manage conflicts arising from the actions.
The PF believes that the organization operated with a meticulous scheme, indicating high strategic preparation for carrying out the alleged coup actions.
