Chilp, chilp! The Blue Bird Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary

There is a song by the great US songwriter Dan Penn called Is a Bluebird Blue? The Vienna singer-songwriter festival Blue Bird has been answering this question with a convincing both/and for 20 years now. In the two decades that initiator Klaus Totzler has been running the festival, he has engaged a special number of sad bards and euphoric singers who have spanned the breadth of the field. The three-day festival always takes place at the end of November at its regular location in the Viennese jazz club Porgy & Bess.
