The Bets CPI, established last week in the Senate, held its first deliberative meeting this Tuesday (19) to analyze requests.
167 of 168 requests previously presented for consideration by the collegiate were approved in a symbolic vote.
Among those invited are presidents and CEOs of several betting houses and other companies directly related to the betting market, as well as influencers such as singer Wesley Safadão, Gkay, Jojo Todynho and Tirulipa.
Son of federal deputy Tiririca (PL-SP), Tirulipa recorded a video promoting a betting house to minors, according to the video shown during the CPI by the rapporteur.
The only unapproved request was removed from the agenda by the author and rapporteur of the CPI, senator Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS), it was an invitation for the president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), Ednaldo Rodrigues, to be heard.
Two items presented during the meeting by Soraya were approved. They are invitations for the director of regulation of the Central Bank, Otavio Damaso, and the delegate of the Civil Police of the Federal District Erick Salum to be heard at the beginning of the work, helping to supply the CPI with information.
Before the symbolic vote, Thronicke also presented an addition so that all summons requests, which require attendance, would be transformed into an invitation as a witness. Furthermore, the offices will say, by consensus among the senators, that those invited or summoned will have the right to remain silent when asked questions that could incriminate them.
“We already ensure that what is always asked for in habeas corpus petitions. Objective questions must be answered and, in those that could incriminate the deponent, he does not need to speak”, explained Thronicke.
In another CPI that runs in the Senate, the CPI for the Manipulation of Games and Sports Betting, which has been dedicated to manipulating results, several people summoned to testify have used habeas corpus in the STF to not attend, including the influencer Deolane Bezerra , now invited to testify at the CPI das Bets.
