A question of Fuvest 2025entrance exam that gives access to courses at the USP (University of São Paulo), was controversial among pre-university courses. While the official answer sheet says that the correct answer is D, the prep courses disagree and indicate A.
HAS CNNinformed that it will have the results of the appeals from the 7pm this Tuesday (19).
This is question number 82 of test V1 (), which compares the writers Machado de Assis and Eça de Queirós. The question asks the student to indicate the alternative with the characteristics of the protagonists Rubião, from “Quincas Borba”, and Gonçalo, from “A Ilustre Casa de Ramires”.
For Fuvest, the correct answer is D. However, the courses Polyhedron, Anglo and Entrance Exam Strategy indicate alternative A as correct. Already Aim says that “there is no alternative that correctly addresses what the statement requires”.
What the courses say
O Polyhedron says that alternative D “is difficult to defend, since neither Rubião nor Gonçalo show commitment to overcoming the civilizational backwardness of Brazil and Portugal”.
O Anglo states that “it is difficult to accept the statement that the protagonists of the novels are committed ‘to overcoming the civilizational delays of their countries’, as both represent precisely the retrograde portion of their respective societies.”
The teachers of Entrance Exam Strategy prepared an appeal to Fuvest asking for a review of the response. According to them, “alternative A more faithfully reflects the literary intentions of Machado de Assis and Eça de Queirós”.
Fuvest 2025
It happened last Sunday (17). The list of candidates for the second stage of the entrance exam is published on December 2ndas well as the test locations.
Selected candidates will undergo the second phase in December 15th and 16thwith Portuguese questions, , in addition to specific subjects.

- Disclosure of cosummoned for the 2nd phase: December 2, 2024;
- 2nd phase Fuvest 2025: December 15th and 16th, 2024;
- Specific skills tests: between December 9, 2024 and January 9, 2025, depending on the career;
- Result announcement: January 24, 2025.
