Argentine President Javier Milei announced his support with reservations for the final declaration of the G20 in Brazil, rejecting the provisions related to the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda.
Argentina’s official position was released while Milei participated in the second session of the global summit, which debates the need to reformulate the functioning of the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
In a statement sent from Casa Rosada to Rio de Janeiro, it was highlighted that, “for the first time since being part of it, the National Government signed the declaration of presidents, partially dissociating itself from all content linked to the 2030 Agenda”.

However, Milei has not yet signed the final communiqué, as adjustments to the text were still pending after months of negotiations between 20 countries.
During her participation in the G20, Milei reaffirmed her ideological position on the role of multilateral organizations in the fight against climate change, poverty and gender equality.
The official statement emphasized that, although these bodies were created to promote voluntary cooperation between nations, the current model is in crisis and has not fulfilled its original purpose.

The Argentine president made it clear that he does not support several points of the declaration, including the promotion of limiting freedom of expression on social networks and the imposition of state interventions as a solution to problems such as hunger.
Milei argued that, to combat poverty and hunger, it is necessary to reduce the presence of the State and deregulate economic activity, allowing the market and commerce to promote prosperity.
The Argentine president also expressed his opposition to aligning himself with Lula’s domestic agenda, which includes controversial positions on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Hamas attack on Israel.

Chancellor Gerardo Werthein and the sherpa Argentine G20 leader Federico Pinedo reported that Milei had several “red lines” regarding the final communiqué and that he would carefully review each paragraph before signing.
