BRASILIA (Reuters) – The Federal Police launched an operation this Tuesday to dismantle a criminal organization responsible for planning a coup d’état to prevent the elected government from taking office in the 2022 election, with plans to assassinate President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and by vice Geraldo Alckmin.
According to a note from the PF, investigations indicate that the criminal organization used a high level of technical-military knowledge to plan, coordinate and execute illicit actions in the months of November and December 2022.
“Among these actions, the existence of detailed operational planning was identified, called ‘Green and Yellow Dagger’, which would be executed on December 15, 2022, aimed at the murder of elected candidates for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of the Republic”, said the PF in a note.

Those investigated in Operation Countercoup are, for the most part, military personnel with training in Special Forces.
“The arrest and execution of a minister of the Federal Supreme Court, who had been continuously monitored, were still in the plans, in case the coup d’état was consummated”, continued the PF.
The planning prepared by those investigated, according to the PF, detailed human and military resources necessary for the actions, using advanced military operational techniques. There would still be a subsequent institution of an “Institutional Crisis Management Office”, to be integrated by the investigated themselves to manage institutional conflicts arising as a result of the actions, according to the PF.
