Investigation in progress

This content is about a fact that is still being investigated by the editorial team. We will have more information soon.

The Federal Police served five arrest warrants – including military personnel with Special Forces training, the so-called “black kids” – this Tuesday (19) for allegedly trying to promote a coup d’état after the 2022 presidential election. investigations that led to Operation Countercoup, the group planned to assassinate then-elected president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and vice Geraldo Alckmin (PSB).

In addition to the five arrest warrants, three search and seizure warrants and 15 precautionary measures were executed in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Goiás and Amazonas and in the Federal District, authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court. THE People’s Gazette contacted the Army and is awaiting a response.

“The investigations indicate that the criminal organization used a high level of technical-military knowledge to plan, coordinate and execute illicit actions in the months of November and December 2022. Those investigated are, for the most part, military personnel with training in Special Forces ( FE)”, said the PF in a note.

Also according to the authority, the existence of a detailed operational plan called “Green and Yellow Dagger” was identified, which “would be executed on December 15, 2022, aimed at the murder of elected candidates for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of the Republic”.

“The arrest and execution of a minister of the Federal Supreme Court, who had been continuously monitored, were still in the plans, in case the Coup d’état was consummated”, added the Federal Police without mentioning names, but it is believed that it would be Moraes, who presided over the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) that year and handed down decisions that directly affected voters of then-president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) who was seeking re-election.

The seized documents show that the planning included the use of military and human resources, with advanced military techniques, in addition to the creation of an “Institutional Crisis Management Office” to manage conflicts arising from the actions.

The PF believes that the organization operated with a meticulous scheme, indicating high strategic preparation for carrying out the alleged coup actions.

Among the precautionary measures taken are the delivery of passports, suspension of the exercise of public functions and prohibition of contact between those investigated. The authority states that the Army monitored compliance with the warrants.

According to the PF, the crimes investigated include violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état and criminal organization. The disjointed actions point to a serious threat to the country’s institutional stability.

Evidence was erased from Mauro Cid’s devices

The report found that this Tuesday’s operation (19) had as evidence of the investigation files that were deleted from devices belonging to Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, who was Bolsonaro’s aide-de-camp. He will give a new statement to the PF in the afternoon, and should be questioned for not having mentioned these files in the plea agreement.

According to sources linked to the investigations, new Israeli technology software helped in the recovery and location of hidden or deleted conversations that were in the cloud of Cid’s electronic devices. These files would not have been indicated by the lieutenant colonel in his plea bargain agreement, which could lead to the reversal of the agreement, according to the PF – a possibility that Cid’s lawyer, Cezar Bittencourt, denies.

After determining Cid’s new testimony, the PF asked for another 60 days to conclude the investigation investigating the intellectual authors of the acts of January 8, 2023. Another part of the evidence for this Tuesday’s operation (19) came from cell phones seized from others military.

The report also found that this Tuesday’s operation (19) is related to the same investigation that investigates 8/1 and is an extension of Operation Tempus Veritaris, which targeted former ministers and allies of Bolsonaro in February this year.
