The president of , , was hospitalized this Monday at , where he is participating in the Leaders’ Summit as a guest, due to an “indisposition”, government sources in the South American country reported. Peña was taken to Hospital Samaritano, in Botafogo, in the South Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, according to a spokeswoman for the president’s office. “At the moment, he is undergoing the relevant medical examinations,” he added, without giving details. The president’s office said “the hospital will release a medical report in the coming hours.”

Peña, who turned 46 on Saturday, was sworn in as president in August 2023, making him the youngest president in Paraguay’s democratic era, following the fall of Alfredo Stroessner’s dictatorship (1954-1989).
