the Russian state company with the monopoly for natural gas exporthas announced the suspension of the supply of this hydrocarbon to a country in the European Union: Austria.
“OMV Gas Marketing & Trading GmbH (OGMT) has just received information from Gazprom Export that Gazprom Export will suspend (and therefore reduce to 0%) its natural gas supplies under its Austrian supply contract with OGMT”the company has indicated through the Central European Gas Hub (CEGH).
Gazprom’s cut in natural gas supplies takes place after OMV will publicly inform of its intention to recover the 230 million euros in damages plus interest and costs in relation to the irregular German gas supplies from Gazprom Export in 2022 after the arbitration award in its favor by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
In that sense, OGMT explained that would seek compensation for their claims for damages with invoices under the Austrian gas supply contract with Gazprom Export.
Furthermore, the company acknowledged that was to be expected “a deterioration of the contractual relationship under OGMT’s Austrian supply contract with Gazprom Export, including a possible interruption of gas supply.”
And so it has been. This same weekend the Austrian energy company confirmed to the Bloomberg and DPA agencies that Gazprom deliveries have been “reduced to zero” since 6:00 on Saturday.
