Champion of Series B and assured of the first division in 2025, Santos announced, this Monday (18/11), that coach Fábio Carille will not remain at the club. His contract ends in December and will not be renewed.
The 51-year-old coach leaves the club as champions, but the team’s performance was not pleasing, especially the fans.

According to information from “Canal do Loredo”, which covers Bragantino daily, Pedro Caixinha, former coach of Massa Bruta, has already practically agreed with Santos for 2025.
– The information we have gathered is that Pedro Caixinha is Marcelo Teixeira’s favorite and the coach has practically everything agreed with Peixe to lead the team in the 2025 season – he informed, on November 14th.
Caixinha was fired from Bragantino at the end of October and did not intend to take another job in Brazilian football. However, the opportunity to command a historic club like Santos, in addition to the proposal received, may have convinced the Portuguese.

What did Santos say about Carille’s departure?
In a statement on social media this Monday afternoon (11/18), Santos announced the departure of Fábio Carille. According to Peixe, the decision was made in agreement with the coach.
“Santos Futebol Clube informs that, by mutual agreement, Fábio Carille is no longer the Club’s coach. Fábio Carille and the members of the Technical Committee were hired to rebuild Santos and achieved all the objectives and goals proposed in 2024. Santos Futebol Clube thanks coach Fábio Carille and wishes him success in continuing his career”, says the statement.

The coach will no longer manage Santos in the last game of Série B, against Sport, on Sunday (24/11), at 6:30 pm, on Ilha do Retiro. The tendency is for Leandro Zago, under-20 coach, to lead the team.

In which phase of the 2025 Copa do Brasil will Santos enter?
With the victory of Série B, Santos will enter the third phase of the Copa do Brasil 2025. This is a bonus given by the CBF as a form of incentive.
Peixe already had a place in the first phase assured, due to the runner-up in Paulistão 2024, but will take a two-phase leap in the next Copa do Brasil.
It will be Santos’ return to the Copa do Brasil. This year, the club did not participate in the competition, after failing to secure a place in 2023.
