Six people, including an eight-year-old boy, were killed in Monday night’s attack by a Russian drone on the town of Hluchiv in the Sumy region, located in northeastern Ukraine near the border with Russia.

At least 11 other people were injured, the regional military administration reported on the Telegram platform on Tuesday. This was reported by the Reuters agency and the Kyiv Independent newspaper.

According to local authorities, the drone hit an apartment building around 11:20 p.m. local time (10:20 p.m. CET). Rescuers are still searching for other people who may be under the rubble.

The Sumy region borders the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions in Russia. Residents of border villages are exposed to attacks by Russian forces every day, as a result of which many have left there.

During a large-scale Russian airstrike in Ukraine on the night of November 17, the regional capital of Sumy came under heavy fire, with Russia launching several missile attacks on the city. They hit residential areas, where 11 people lost their lives, including two children.
