Are the first wrinkles beginning to appear, the expression on your face changing slightly and your skin also sagging a bit? Do not despair and help yourself with makeup. You can still look youthful and fresh in your forties and certainly much longer.
After forty, choose softer and more natural make-up
Are you struggling to cope with makeup after forty? We are all different. We use various products to care for our skin, and we also paint ourselves more or less to look young, fresh or clearly better than when we wake up. But how to do that? Some of us have not used layers of make-up before, and those who have already found that the skin changes, wrinkles begin to slowly appear, and a number of completely natural, but not desirable changes in the face also appear.
It is not only important what you apply to your face, but how you do it definitely plays a big role as well. Both have different results, and if you’re not sure how to go about it, you can check out this post from Lifee’s YouTube channel, where Diana walks you through a makeup tutorial.

Beware of products that are too covering, matte and drying
Why these changes in the face happen, let’s leave it for another time. Now is the time to find out what products to use and also what to avoid. Although various trends and methods of make-up for the most dazzling effect are spreading through social media, it is good to remember that excessive contrasts, sharp features and unnatural shades, too matte and dry-looking skin accentuate wrinkles. Admittedly, visibly unnatural makeup can be a great choice for an evening gown, as the occasion and the artificial light can take a lot. In daylight, however, such makeup does not look youthful. It’s quite a shame, because at forty we are definitely not old iron. What is good to remember when applying makeup at this age?
When choosing products, choose those that are more hydrating. Ideally, they should contain, for example, hyaluronic acid, glycerin or vitamin C. Even if the product says that it is for sensitive skin, it can dry you out. Avoid all such milks, make-up or liquid powders.
Make-up should only have partial coverage and unify the skin. The unnaturalness seems inappropriate and artificial. It doesn’t even have to be makeup as such, but sometimes BB creams and similar products that combine color but don’t have strong covering capabilities are quite enough.
If you decide to use a concealer around the eyes, don’t choose shades that are too light, but only one step lighter than the make-up or BB cream. Apply only a finer layer and spread it well and work it in with a brush, sponge or fingers to avoid sharp transitions. Thanks to this, the skin will look natural.
Do not extend the lighter shade around the eyes down to the cheekbones in a V, which some makeup methods recommend. This creates an excessively large light area that gives an unhealthy impression.
The powder that is used for fixation should not be too drying and it is enough to apply it only very gently with a brush, in long movements from the nose towards the hair.
Youthful make-up: Play with colors and their application
Colors and shapes are also closely related to youth. As for the colors, it’s about achieving a “juicy” impression. It would certainly be possible to describe it in other ways, but I’m sure you understand. The skin should be smooth, clear and slightly colored in pink or peach shades on the cheek rather than underneath.
Strong and contrasting blush placed under the cheekbones significantly narrows the face, but also creates a stern expression and sunken cheeks. As well as contrasting these areas with darker makeup. The strokes with which you optically model the face should not go from the ears down to the chin, but from the ears over the cheeks to almost the bridge of the nose.
Eyeliner should not be black, but in the color of eyebrows or hair, as well as eyebrow pencil. Do not frame the entire eye with the lines, but try to fill only the spaces between the eyelashes, which you then smudge with a small brush.
As for the eyebrows, do not try to draw arches, but also not sharply cut perfect eyebrows. Comb your natural eyebrows and fill in areas where hairs are missing with an eyebrow pencil or marker. Add in short strokes in the direction of the combed hairs and only very lightly between them.
