Google releases the first test version of Android 16 for developers

One of the features of the update highlighted by the Mountain View giant is the new API for Android’s photo picker. With it, it will be possible to integrate the tool directly into applications, facilitating the sharing of photos and videos, avoiding granting access permissions to the entire device.

There is also a renewed API for the Conexão Saúde platform to read and write medical records in FHIR format. The new feature should allow apps and devices to share information about the user’s health in the same way that smart watches and bracelets do, with the user’s consent.

Another prominent presence in the first preview of Android 16 for developers is the latest version of the operating system. The feature helps improve user privacy on the web, while offering solutions for companies to achieve good results with advertising.

Early release

For the past five years, Google launched in February, but this time it was moved up a few months, suggesting that the launch of Android 16 could happen sooner than expected. According to the official schedule, the second preview of the version will be provided in December.
