The funeral of former One Direction frontman Liam Payne it will be today Wednesday (20/11), just over a month after he died aged 31. His former bandmates are among those expected to attend the private ceremony in Home County in southeast England, along with his family and closest friends.
The musician died after fell from a balcony on the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires of Argentina. An autopsy showed the 31-year-old suffered internal and external bleeding and multiple injuries from the fall.
In a brief statement after his death, Liam’s family said: “We are devastated. Liam will forever live in our hearts and will be remembered for his kind, funny and brave soul.” Payne was one of pop’s most recognizable names, gaining worldwide fame after appearing on The X Factor. Despite only coming third on the show in 2010, One Direction became the biggest British band since the Beatles.
During their five-year career, they sold 70 million records, with four UK number one singles and four number one albums.
Starring on many of their hits, Payne also had solo success with tracks such as Strip That Down and Bedroom Floor.
He will be farewelled by his parents, two brothers and Bear, his son with Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole. He is also expected to attend the funeral Payne’s girlfriend at the time of his death, Kate Cassidy.
