The Federal Police (PF) sent a request to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to annul the plea bargain of Army lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid, former aide-de-camp to former president Jair Bolsonaro. The information is from the portal g1.

The request comes after the 2022 elections to prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and restrict the actions of the Judiciary. Five people were arrested, including four Army soldiers and a federal police officer.

In a statement to the PF this Tuesday (19), Cid denied having knowledge about the plan. However, according to TV Globothe investigators were not satisfied with the lieutenant colonel’s answers and were convinced that Cid had omitted information in the statement, and therefore asked the STF for its annulment.

According to the PF investigation, Cid and retired general Mário Fernandes, who was arrested this Tuesday, exchanged messages about the coup plot.

The PF’s request would involve the revocation of the benefits of the whistleblower, but not the whistleblower itself. Among the benefits are the reduction of the sentence and the possibility of responding to proceedings in freedom.

Minister Alexandre de Moraes asked the Attorney General’s Office to analyze the issue, and then decide whether to annul the plea bargain and order Mauro Cid’s arrest.
