Document was presented by the party president, Gleisi Hoffmann, and the leader of the party in the Chamber, Odair Cunha

The PT presented this Wednesday (Nov. 20, 2024) to the president of the Chamber of Deputies, (PP-AL), a request for the PL to be archived that grants amnesty to those convicted of the attempted coup d’état on January 8, 2023 .

The document was delivered by the president of the PT, federal deputy (PT-PR), and by the party leader in the Chamber, federal deputy (PT-MG). In a note, the PT assessed that maintaining the project’s progress is “inopportune” e “inconvenient” for democracy.

“This was fully demonstrated by the recent bomb attack on the STF headquarters [Supremo Tribunal Federal] in Brasília and the conclusions of the Federal Police in the January 8 investigation, revealing plans to assassinate President Lula, Vice Geraldo Alckmin and Minister Alexandre Moraes”, highlighted the statement.

The note states that the criminal plot of the coup leaders could benefit from the amnesty proposed in the bill, the prospect of pardon or impunity for those involved.

OPERATION

The PF (Federal Police) launched an operation on Tuesday (19.nov) to dismantle a criminal organization responsible for planning a coup d’état to prevent the inauguration of the president (PT) after the 2022 election. The plan included the assassination of Lula and of the vice-president (PSB).

The corporation reported having identified the existence of “detailed operational planning”, called Green and Yellow Punhal, which would be executed on December 15, 2022.

“The arrest and execution of a minister of the Federal Supreme Court, who had been continuously monitored, were still in the plans, in case the coup d’état was consummated”, highlighted the PF.

A PF agent and 4 Army soldiers were arrested in the operation.

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case at the STF, authorized the preventive detention of retired general Mário Fernandes and lieutenant colonels Hélio Ferreira Lima, Rafael Martins de Oliveira and Rodrigo Bezerra Azevedo.

The 4 are members of the Army Special Forces, also known as “black kids”, highly specialized in guerrilla actions, infiltration and other elite military tactics.

The preventive arrest of PF agent Wladimir Matos Soares, suspected of involvement in the plan, was also authorized.
