Our Lady of Conceição, patron saint of Quarteira, will be celebrated again on the 7th and 8th of December.
The community of Quarteira begins the religious festival with the candlelight procession at 9pm on the 7th, between the Nossa Senhora da Conceição and São Pedro do Mar churches.
On the 8th, the Eucharist is celebrated in the Church of São Pedro do Mar at 2pm and an hour later the solemn procession towards the sea begins.
The highlight of the weekend will be the meeting between the two images of Our Lady of Conception at the Quarteira Fishing Port.
The image of the little chapel will be carried by fishermen in the parade of decorated boats, while the image of the Parish Church will be carried by the men of the scaffold along Avenida Infante Sagres.
After the salute to the patron saint and the blessing of the sea and the boats, the images of Our Lady of Conception return to their chapels.
The party continues in the churchyard of Nossa Senhora da Conceição with music by the artist Cláudio Rosário, various cuisine, the sale of branches and the auction of gifts.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Quarteira Parish Council’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
The Festa de Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Quarteira is organized by the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Quarteira, and Loulé City Council.
