Slovak diplomacy sharply criticizes the permission from US President Joe Biden, who authorized Ukraine to attack Russian territory.

The permission of US President Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to hit Russian territory with delivered long-range missiles is considered by the Slovak diplomacy department as a further escalation of the conflict. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, during his visit to Liechtenstein on Wednesday, informs the TASR correspondent.

“We are absolutely against such escalation on the part of the outgoing US administration,” declared the minister. According to Blanár, the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump says that it wants to do everything to achieve peace in Ukraine. Therefore, Blanár perceives permission to intervene in Russian territory “as throwing logs under the feet of the future administration”.

The head of Slovak diplomacy declared that if Russia feels threatened, we can expect further escalation of the conflict. Blanár called for the search for solutions related to the de-escalation of the conflict at all levels.

“I pray that the Russian Federation does not react inadequately, and I plead with the Ukrainian side to give room for peace negotiations, to wait for the long-awaited results of the American elections,” declared Blanár.

The minister declared that the US citizens, with their election, clearly supported the policy of Trump, who wants to end the war in Ukraine. According to him, Trump has a very strong mandate with which he can enter into foreign policy issues.

According to Blanár, it is extremely important that the situation in Ukraine be monitored for the safety of the Slovak embassy in Kyiv and its staff. “In the event that (the security situation) worsens, we will act immediately,” he declared.
