Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) criticized minister Alexandre de Moraes after being indicted by the Federal Police (PF) in the investigation investigating an attempted coup d’état in Brazil following the result of the 2022 presidential elections, in which he was defeated.
“Minister Alexandre de Moraes conducts the entire investigation, adjusts statements, arrests without charges, carries out evidentiary fishing and has very creative advice. He does everything that the law doesn’t say”, said the former president to the Metrópoles portal.
“We have to see what is in this PF indictment. I’ll wait for the lawyer. This, obviously, goes to the Attorney General’s Office. It is in the PGR that the fight begins. I can’t expect anything from a team that uses creativity to denounce me”, he added.
In addition to the former president, the PF concluded that there was evidence of crime by another 36 people. The final report was sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Among them, former government ministers, such as Anderson Torres (Justice), general Augusto Heleno (GSI), Braga Netto (Defense); the former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) and federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ); and Bolsonaro’s former advisor, Marcelo Câmara.
The former president’s former aide-de-camp, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, was also indicted. The military, whistleblower in the case, gives testimony this Thursday (21) to the Federal Supreme Court (STF). This point was considered the last to finalize the case.
The completed investigation covers involvement in the acts of January 8, coup plots during the 2022 presidential elections, as well as the plan to assassinate the then-elected president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), the then-elected vice-president Geraldo Alckmin ( PSD) and STF minister Alexandre de Moraes.
