The Portuguese continue to hear Frequency Modulation more when they are in the car. But yes, the cell phone gained prominence.
To hear radio it stopped being what it was. The Portuguese – and not only – continue to listen to many programs but now they choose what they want and listen to it when they want. It’s the era of podcast for millions of people.
Even so, there are still many, many people listening to “normal” radio, in FM – Frequency Modulation.
With the growth of cell phones, which have become important in almost everything we do, it could be predicted that the majority of Portuguese people will start listening to the radio on their cell phones.
But no. At least not yet.
The Bareme Rádio study by Marktest shows that the car continues to be the place where most radio is listened to: 6.7 million listeners. 78% of the Portuguese population is over 15 years old.
O cell phone appears in second place, with 30.4% of listeners. It is double what was seen 10 years ago and is an increase of 75% in the last five years, highlights the .
Computer (22%), portable radio (14.5%) and hi-fi stereos (11%) round out the top-5.
It should be noted that there was a great is left over in preference for portable radios (27.9% compared to 2014) and hi-fi devices (43% less).
