In a game at the Arena Pantanal, Flamengo beat Cuiabá 2-1, with a goal in the final stretch, this Wednesday (20/11), in a game valid for the 34th round of the Brasileirão 2024. Derik Lacerda placed the team from home in front, but Guilherme Gomes left everything the same and Matheus Gonçalves scored Fla’s winning goal in the 47th minute of the second half.
Cuiabá is in 19th place, with 29 points, and has struggled in the fight against relegation. Flamengo is in 4th place, with 62 points, and still dreams of bigger flights within the Brazilian Championship.

Cuiabá x Flamengo: how it was
The first half was full of pressure for Flamengo, but they lacked a goal. At 23, Pulgar crossed and Michael headed, but Walter saved well. Five minutes later, Wesley hit from outside the area and Walter sent it to the corner.
The end of the first stage also had chances for Fla. At 46, Wesley finished again from outside the area and Walter saved again. Then, Alcaraz took a corner kick and Fabricio Bruno passed it to Bruno Henrique, who shot dangerously.

The second half started with Cuiabá having more possession of the ball, arriving with set pieces. The Central-West team was more connected and took advantage of the space given by Flamengo to open the scoring, at 13, with Derik Lacerda.
Two minutes before Cuiabá’s goal, Filipe Luís had introduced 18-year-old midfielder Guilherme Gomes, who had his first chance as a professional. At 16, he found the net, after a mistake by Alan Empereur.

With the need to win, Cuiabá had striker Isidro Pitta enter at 19. And the Paraguayan scored, at 23, leaving Léo Pereira sitting, but the goal was disallowed due to offside. After that, Flamengo once again dominated the actions. At 37, Evertton Araújo shot and Walter avoided the goal.
When the game seemed to be heading towards a draw, at 47, Michael crossed from the left and Matheus Gonçalves decided the game. Flamengo’s victory in the “lights out”.

Flamengo equalized at 16. Alan Empereur missed control and Bruno Henrique made the tackle. He entered the area, on the right, and served Guilherme Gomes, who shot well to score.

Flamengo’s turnaround came at 47 minutes into the second half. Marllon hesitated, Michael went down the left and crossed into the middle of the area. Matheus Gonçalves threw himself at the ball and found the net.
