US President Joe Biden celebrated his 82nd birthday on Wednesday. He has reached an age that no incumbent head of the White House has reached before him. According to his colleagues, he planned to spend the day with his family. TASR informs about it based on the reports of the Reuters agency and The Hill server.

Biden had no public events on Wednesday’s schedulehe returned to Washington from a trip to South America just before midnight on Tuesday. Relatives, friends and colleagues, including first lady Jill Biden and ex-president Barack Obama, congratulated the democratic politician on social networks.

“Happy birthday to my dear friend and our incredible president, Joe Biden,” wrote Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden withdrew his re-candidacy in the presidential elections in July, because his poor performance in a televised debate with Donald Trump raised concerns about his fitness to hold the office of head of state. Harris, who was defeated by Republican ex-president Donald Trump in the November 5 election, became the Democratic candidate.

At age 78, Trump is the oldest person ever to be elected president of the United States. At the end of his second term in 2029, he will surpass Biden’s record for the oldest serving president by five months.

The previous “record holder” was Ronald Reagan, who ended his second term in office at the age of 77.
