The Slovak Paradise was on fire on Thursday. However, the fire above Prielom Hornádu near Čingovo was extinguished in time. According to the National Park Administration (NP), the Slovak Paradise ho caused by a person who bivouacked on the spot. She informed about it on the website.
The fire was noticed in the afternoon by mountain rescuers. After the exact localization together with the staff of the NP Administration professional firefighters were called, who arrived at the scene in a short time with fire equipment and extinguished the fire.
According to conservationists, it was burning in the same place as in September of this year. “The fire was most likely caused by someone who bivouaced at the site and built a place to sleep,” adds the NP Administration and at the same time warns visitors that bivouacing outside the marked places and especially starting a fire in the wild is inadmissible and prohibited in the Slovak Paradise. In the past, it has already caused enormous material damage and loss of human life in the inaccessible terrain of the Slovak Paradise. specifically when fighting a fire in 2000.
