The Minister of Defense, José Múcio, stated that those involved in the , which would be carried out in 2022 to prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, “do not represent the Armed Forces”. The head of the ministry said he wanted anyone who tarnished the name of the institution, if truly guilty, to be punished.
“These are not people who represent the Armed Forces. They were not representing the military. They had their CPFs, this was each person’s initiative”, Múcio told journalists this Wednesday (20) at the Itamaraty Palace, following the reception of the President of China, Xi Jinping. “I want everything to be investigated, for the culprits to be truly tried by justice,” he added.

The coup plot would involve the (PT), vice-president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), and minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
On Tuesday (19), five suspects were arrested by the Federal Police (PF) for being part of the group behind the plan, which, according to investigations, was about to be implemented on December 15, 2022.
Investigations indicate that, more than a month earlier, a document was created detailing the plan.
One of the prisoners, Mário Fernandes, a retired general who was executive secretary of the Presidency of the Republic in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and former advisor to former minister and federal deputy Eduardo Pazuello (PL-RJ), is named as the person responsible for printing the document, entitled “Planning – Punhal Verde e Amarelo”, on the premises of Palácio do Planalto.
In addition to Fernandes, a federal police officer and – military personnel from the Army Special Operations Command – were also detained.
