Aurélio Acosta Navarro, 22 years old, was killed in the early hours of Wednesday (Nov 20) during a police raid in Vila Mariana, south of the capital of São Paulo

The military police officers involved in the death of medical student Marco Aurélio Acosta Navarro, aged 22, were indicted in an investigation by the this Thursday (November 21, 2024) for intentional homicide – when there is the intention to kill. Among them, Guilherme Augusto Macedo, author of the shooting.

“The police officers involved in the incident gave a statement and the officer responsible for the shooting was indicted for intentional homicide in the IPM (Military Police Inquiry). Both will remain away from operational activities until the investigations are concluded. All agent conduct is investigated.”said to (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat) in a note sent to the Poder360.

Marco Aurélio Cardenas Acosta was studying medicine at Anhembi Morumbi University. He was shot dead at close range by military police officers on Wednesday (Nov 20) in a hotel in Vila Mariana, south of São Paulo.

According to the SSP-SP, the young man struck a police vehicle and tried to escape. When approached, the student allegedly tried to attack the police, who retaliated with a shot. The young man was rescued and taken to Ipiranga Hospital, but he did not survive the injury and died.

The military police reported that the officers involved in the approach gave statements. They will remain away from activities until the investigations are completed. The weapon that fired the shot was seized and will be examined.

The officers were wearing body cameras. The images of the equipment will be attached to the investigation that is conducted by the Military Police Internal Affairs and the DHPP (Department of Homicide and Personal Protection).
