After six episodes, Vitor, aka RT Mallonebecame champion of the New SceneNetflix’s first musical reality show, last Tuesday (19) in an electrifying dispute against OGCapito.

Under the judgment of Djonga, Philip Ret and the sister duo Tasha & Traciethe Bahian musician is a new prominent name in national rap.

In an interview made available exclusively to CNNthe musician celebrated the importance of streaming in visibility to and, consequently, to .

“I don’t even need to tell you how huge this is. Rap from Brazil is already reaching prominent places, globally speaking, with several rappers always competing in foreign festivals, competitions and doing several shows in Europe and the United States. I believe that this reality show solidifies a little this image that is being created of rap”, he says.

According to RT, it showed that a lot of people are producing powerful and new things. “Even though it was an edition that focused more on the Southeast, the artists were very different, but with beautiful walks with solid aesthetics,” he added.

“My intention, my idea, my desire is that a new scene really begins that reaches even greater horizons. This is the importance and magnitude of this reality show, showing a face of Brazilian rap to Brazil and the world that isn’t even being seen yet. Rap in Brazil is very plural, as is the whole of Brazil”, he guarantees.

A lot of dedication in pursuit of dreams

For Mallone, the experience changed the direction of his life. “There are many people across Brazil dreaming about this, people willing to give everything to achieve this dream. But many are giving up because they believe that everything is business. And it’s true, it’s a business that involves money. But rap is real musica very real expression. This is still about people“, it says.

“It’s a golden opportunity for many, just like it was for me. I could have abandoned rap after a 13-year career, with medals, awards and festivals, especially because I wasn’t able to pay the bills at home. But the program brought me back. It’s real people, real stories, genuine rap“, he states.

Asked what the main lesson the competition brought, the rapper says it is to believe in “God’s time”.

“I agreed to be there because I had nothing to lose. I understood that the issue is in me, I know how to do it, I just need focus, time and breathing. I understand that I’m not the best in the world, but I’m one of the good ones, and it’s okay to be one of the. If I want to improve, I can, and all I need to do is try. My years dedicated to rap were not in vain, I learned what I needed”, he adds.

“Winning was great”, says RT Mallone

Although his career before the reality show was marked by several “almosts”, the singer was sure that his turn had come. “The money from this prize will help me make my family well, at least in the beginning, so that I can rap more calmly and invest in music. It’s not money that will make me rich, but it will cover my sisters’ college tuition, my mother’s college tuition, and ensure that the electricity and water in my house are never cut off again, that there is no shortage of food at home”, he says.

“Working with this security changes everything. I want to be number one in Brazil. I’m not going to carry the cross of just being a reality show rapper. I have always been much more than that. I’m the new scene. I’m the revolution of those who think rap is dying, of those who think that rap has lost its essence. I am the answer to everything that people expect”, he concludes.
