Saudi Arabia revealed on Tuesday (19) its plans for the King Salman International Stadium, a 92,000-capacity arena designed to host the opening and final games of the 2034 World Cup. Located north of Riyadh , capital of Saudi Arabia, the stadium will be the largest in the country and is scheduled to be completed in 2029.
The project is led by renowned global architecture firm Populous. The stadium’s design, inspired by Saudi Arabia’s natural landscape, symbolizes growth and development. Each space in the stadium is conceived as a “seed” germinating in the region’s environment.
“The design philosophy reflects a commitment to cutting-edge infrastructure while paying homage to the intrinsic connection between sustainable development, human activity and the natural world,” said Shireen Hamdan, general manager of Populous KSA.
