Lemon juice can be not only a culinary ingredient, but also a very important and effective element of care. It has many valuable properties thanks to which, among others: supports skin regeneration, removes discolorations and reduces the visibility of wrinkles. Therefore, it is worth knowing how to use it to bring the desired results.
Lemon juice can be great for your skin. This is all because it is rich in many valuable ingredients and properties that will help us reduce wrinkles and get rid of discolorations. Why is it worth using lemon juice in facial care? Here are the main reasons:
- Contains vitamin C – it neutralizes free radicals that cause skin aging. Moreover, it stimulates the production of collagen.
- Brightens discolorations – lemon juice is great for reducing sun discoloration, acne marks and age spots.
- Contains fruit acids – thanks to this, it works like a light chemical peel, removing dead epidermis cells, smoothing the skin and preparing it for more effective absorption of other nutrients.
- It has a cleansing effect – thanks to its astringent and antibacterial properties, lemon juice cleanses pores and reduces the visibility of imperfections.
- Smoothes skin – lemon juice used systematically will make our skin tighter and wrinkles less visible.
Lemon juice works best for people with combination or oily skin or skin prone to discoloration. Caution should be used with sensitive or dry skin as citric acid could irritate delicate skin.
Therefore, if we have dry and sensitive skin, then… we should mix lemon juice with yogurt, aloe or honey, which will soothe the effect of the acid. Let us also remember to always perform an allergy test on a small part of the skin.

We can use lemon juice in many different ways. Thanks to this, we have the opportunity to adapt the method to the needs of our skin. Lemon juice is most often used as:
- Tonic – for this purpose, mix fresh lemon juice with water in a 1:1 ratio. We wash our face with it using a cotton pad. The tonic should be used twice a week, in the evening.
- Peeling – after mixing lemon juice with sugar, we get an effective peeling that improves microcirculation. Massage the skin lightly and carefully for about 3 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
- Mask – when you combine lemon juice and honey in equal proportions, you will get a smoothing, moisturizing and brightening mask. Apply it to your face for 15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
- Compress for discoloration – soaking a cotton pad with pure lemon juice and placing it on the discolorations for 5 minutes and rinsing the juice with water will allow us to perform a home treatment to reduce discoloration.
