A 14-year-old teenager killed a friend of the same age with a shot to the head in Brumadinho (MG), in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, last Wednesday morning (20).
The case occurred around 8:50 am at Rancho Caminho das Tropas, where the victim lived. According to the Military Police, the gun belonged to the dead teenager’s father.
Initially, the shooter told the police that, upon arriving at his friend’s house, the victim showed a gun that belonged to his father and that he pointed it at him and then at his own head.
However, the teenager later gave another version to the police when he said that he went to the victim’s house to use drugs. This time, he also told the agents that his friend showed him a revolver and that, after that, he picked up the gun and while handling it, accidentally shot his friend in the head.
The young man hit by the shot was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), however, he died before reaching the hospital.
Forensics traveled to the scene of the crime, where materials for the investigation were collected.
According to the Civil Police of Minas Gerais, the victim’s body was sent to the Legal Medical Station, in Betim, where the autopsy was carried out and, subsequently, it will be released to family members.
After giving a statement, the shooter was released and must be presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The father of the dead teenager was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and “failing to exercise caution in the custody of said weapon”. He was sent to the prison system, where he will remain at the disposal of the Justice.
