On the night from Thursday to Friday (November 22), as well as during Friday morning, snowfall is expected in most of Slovakia. It probably only rains in the southwest, and even that only temporarily, but the rain can occasionally be freezing. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) warns that ten to 20 millimeters of rain could fall, sometimes even more. He informed about it on the web.
“Most of the precipitation will fall within 12 hours. They will start late on Thursday evening, mostly around midnight, and will end already on Friday in the forenoon, shortly after noon on Zemplín. Numerical models predict ten to 20 millimeters in places in a relatively short period of time, and even more due to the strong easterly to south-easterly flow on the windward side (especially in the Banskobystrica region),” explained SHMÚ.
He warns that an equivalent amount of snow will correspond to this, which in the course of a few hours means a more significant intensity, with wind and complications on the roads due to the formation of snow tongues. “So if you don’t have to, you’d better not plan your trip on Friday morning and afternoon,” the institute noted.
