At the end of October, we learned with some concern that (82 years old) had been forced to while he was releasing his new album Friends. Here he is, 3 weeks later, in front of the cameras Seven to eight (TF1).
In an extract revealed on social networks, the singer gives news of his health: “It’s going slowly, it’s going well. (…) I had pneumonia.“ Confirming the journalist’s words that his lungs “heavy smokers” are not for nothing – Eddy Mitchell started smoking at the age of 14 – the singer revealed that he had not touched a cigarette for a month. So he followed the advice of doctors, even if “It doesn’t seem to enchant him.”They say you shouldn’t smoke, you shouldn’t drink, you shouldn’t eat fatty foods. Finally, you shouldn’t do anything…“, he declared before specifying that he was following “more or less” ces indications.
Concerning alcohol, he who had declared having already drunk one or two bottles of whiskey per day, has finished with the drink. As Eddy Mitchell confides, he did not drink for pleasure but “by mania“. A healthier and wiser pace of life for the octogenarian who must now take care of his health.

In this extract, Eddy Mitchell also spoke about his great friend Johnny Hallyday. A video was shown to him and in it, the two men can be seen laughing and singing together at the table. A moment he remembers very well: “It was during the Vieilles Canailles tour – a trio formed by the two singers and their long-time friend, Jacques Dutronc -, it was in Clermont-Ferrand, he was in great shape. Besides, the doctors who were following him came to see me to thank me even though I had nothing to do with it. They said to me, ‘You gave him a great time.’ He forgot he was on chemo. It’s true, it was a beautiful evening” said Eddy Mitchell.
More than a friend, the singer was like a member of the Hallyday family. This is why he was chosen to be the godfather of Laura Smet, born from the romance of Johnny Hallyday and Nathalie Baye.
