Norway and the United States contribute to financing environmental preservation initiatives in Brazil
The (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) announced this Thursday (21.Nov.2024) the raising of R$26 billion through international agreements and donations.
Of this amount, R$25.3 billion was obtained from partnerships with global financial institutions, while R$636 million was directed to , with contributions from Norway and the United States.
The president of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante, stated that the federal development bank has intensified its international operations.
“Our objective is to foster development, share experiences, improve practices and identify projects of common interest, attracting capital for investments in Brazil”he stated.
Among the agreements announced is the partnership with the (China Development Bank), which resulted in a loan of RMB 5 billion (around R$4 billion). It is the BNDES’s 1st operation in Chinese currency.
Furthermore, during the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rio, BNDES signed agreements with multilateral institutions. A memorandum with the (Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank) secured R$17.33 billion for projects related to the Climate Fund and the New PAC (Growth Acceleration Program).
Additional contracts, totaling R$4.1 billion, were signed with the development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, and with the (French Development Agency), both focused on sustainable initiatives.
