Does your December tree not want to bloom? You're probably making this common mistake

The cactus is also called the Christmas cactus. Many people decide to decorate the Christmas table with it. However, this plant loses its decorative value when not Therefore, it is worth knowing what are the reasons for this and what to do to make the December tree full of flowers.

Grudnik is a plant that needs proper care for proper development and flowering. It often happens that there are no flowers on it, which are supposed to be its main decoration. This is usually due to small but important mistakes made when caring for the plant. Here they are:

  • Incorrect watering – the grove does not tolerate dryness well because in its natural environment it grows in a humid climate. Water deficiency causes wrinkling of leaves and loss of flowers. At the same time, the grove does not tolerate too much watering, which leads to rotting of the roots. Therefore, it should be watered regularly, but moderately, preferably when the top layer of soil dries out.
  • Wrong flowerpot – too large a pot can also be harmful to this plant. The root system of the grove will develop best in flat and small containers. Therefore, the plant should be replanted approximately every 3 years, not more often.
  • Inappropriate substrate – the grove does not like heavy and clay soil. It grows best in light and permeable soil. A mixture of sand, perlite and peat will be ideal for it, as it guarantees water drainage and proper air circulation.
  • Lack of regular fertilization – the grove requires systematic feeding with fertilizers. It is best to choose a product with a balanced composition and use it once every two weeks during the flowering and growth period.
  • Light deficiency – this plant needs a bright place with diffused light to develop, at least 8 hours a day. It is important to find a balance, because too dark a location inhibits the development of buds, while too intense sun discolors the leaves. The best place will be the eastern windowsill.
  • No rest period – if we want our December tree to bloom, we must let it go through a rest period. To do this, you should limit watering it for about 6-8 weeks before Christmas. Then the plant should be provided with a temperature of about 15-18 degrees Celsius and darkness for 12 hours a day.

Let’s also make sure that it is not standing in a draft.
