The SC Braga facilities were the stage for the recording of “El Harifa 2”, a long-awaited sequel to Egyptian cinema. The film, which tells the story of Maged, a young aspiring footballer, used the Cidade Desportiva and the Municipal Stadium of Braga as the main settings for the new stage of his story.
Subsequently, Maged arrives in Europe to represent SC Braga, after achieving prominence in his country by winning a school championship. The plot explores the protagonist’s adaptation to European football and the challenges he faces away from home.
The film, which also features a special appearance by Michael Owen, a former England international, is scheduled to be released next year in all Arab countries. The first part of the story, “El Harifa”, is among the most profitable films in Egyptian cinema, reaching the top 10 at the box office in the country.
This collaboration between SC Braga and this mega-film production reinforces the international impact of the Minho club and opens up space for the promotion of the city and its infrastructures in new markets.
