The French Football Federation denied Paris Saint-Germain’s appeal to avoid paying R$338 million to Mbappé, due to agreed salaries and bonuses. With the rejection, 55 million euros must be paid to the player, for the last three months of salary and the contract signing bonus.
The payment decision had already been made since October, but PSG sent the appeal request – still a day late. Now, losing another stage of the litigation, PSG is getting closer to paying Mbappé.
The club claims that Mbappé broke his word, as he had reached a verbal agreement with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of the club, in August 2023. In the conversation, the Real Madrid striker would have waived the debt that the French club owed him .
As a result, he was reinstated to the squad, according to Paris. Today, Mbappé demands payment of the full amount, and may take the dispute to UEFA and labor courts to seek a solution.
The loyalty bonus owed by PSG had already been controversial since the 2022/23 pre-season, when Mbappé did not go to Asia with PSG after telling the club that he would not stay until 2025, before the verbal agreement that brought his reinstatement.
At no point was an agreement signed, maintaining the legal validity of the original contract and opening gaps for the continuation of the impasse between player and club.
