The Civil Police of Pernambuco is investigating a case of racial insult registered on Black Awareness Day, last Wednesday (20), involving the model and Miss Jaboatão, Lenita Dellary, aged 24.
According to the victim, she was insulted with racist insults by a neighbor in the building where she lives, in the Piedade neighborhood, in Jaboatão dos Guararapes. This Friday (22), Lenita delivered new evidence to the Jardim Piedade Police Station, in the Metropolitan Region of Recife, to assist in the investigation of the case.
According to Lenita, the disagreement began after a plant pot fell and caused a conflict between the two. During the argument, the attacker, in a hostile tone, called her a “monkey” and even suggested that she move to “a favela”. The insults were recorded on video. See the images below.
HAS CNNLenita stated that, although she had lived in a hostile environment with her neighbor for around two years, she preferred not to register the offenses previously due to the woman’s age.
However, she revealed that, in addition to the verbal attacks, the woman accused her of stealing objects from her home. “She started making racist statements two years ago, and the situation intensified due to my mother’s plants, which were bothering her. But later, she accused me of stealing things from her house”, explained the model. The accusations, according to Lenita, were spread throughout the condominium.
On social media, on the day of the incident, the model made an outburst. “Today, November 20th, Black Awareness Day, I suffered racial injury. I spent years in silence, but today, faced with this situation, I decided not to remain silent. I decided to give a voice and, above all, seek my rights”, commented Lenita in a video.
The model, accompanied by witnesses and evidence of what happened, formalized the complaint at the Jardim Piedade Police Station, responsible for the case. The Civil Police recorded incidents of racial slander and insults and opened an investigation to investigate the circumstances of the episode.
