The New York judge leading the case against Donald Trump over buying a porn star’s silence said he will consider the president-elect’s latest arguments about why the case should be dismissed.
State judge Juan Merchan also said in his decision this Friday (22) that Trump would not be sentenced on November 26, as previously scheduled. Instead, Merchan said he would review proposals from Trump’s lawyers and prosecutors before moving forward. He did not set a new sentencing date.
Trump could be sentenced to up to four years in prison after a jury in May found him guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records for payments to an adult film star before the 2016 election. with the process would be “singularly destabilizing for the country” and would interfere with his functions as elected president and the presidency.
