Customers of the guesthouse that caught fire in the center of Porto say that, in addition to the missing woman already confirmed by official sources, the whereabouts of two other guests have not yet been determined.
The Porto Firefighters Regiment (RSB) and the Municipal Police are carrying out searches to find missing people following the fire that broke out on Wednesday in a guesthouse in the historic center of Porto, several sources said this Friday.
To Lusa, without specifying the number of missing people, a source from the Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Porto Metropolitan Area indicated that the searches were resumed this Friday morning.
A source from the Porto City Council, sending information for later, added that, at 9:30 am, a Cinotechnical Search and Rescue Unit from the Municipal Police was already on site.
“During the night and early this morning, work was carried out to remove rubble and elements in danger of falling. The objective is to create the possible safety conditions so that the RSB can enter and begin the search. But there is still a lot of debris and rubble inside”, said a source from the municipality.
On Thursday, at a press conference, the commander of the Porto Firefighters Sapadores said that a person was missing.
Carlos Marques explained that the missing person would be a woman of around 50 years old and that the search would begin when there are safe conditions because the interior of the building “completely collapsed”.
Three people may be missing
According to this Friday’s edition of Jornal de Notícias and Correio da Manhã, There could be three people missing.

The fire, which was declared extinguished at 6pm on Wednesday, left seven people homeless, four of whom have already been relocated by their own means and three by Social Security. Following the fire, there were two injured from smoke inhalationnamely two women, aged 40 and 89.
The 40-year-old woman was treated at the scene, while the 86-year-old woman was taken to the hospital. Regarding the possible origin of the fire, Carlos Marques revealed that the Judicial Police (PJ) was at the scene to collect the necessary evidence.
