The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) recorded the first snowfall in several places in Slovakia. Mixed or liquid precipitation rarely prevailed in the southwest and in the lowest locations. SHMÚ informed about it on the social network.
“There is no snow cover in the entire southwest and south of the Danube Plain – rain prevailed here (with the exception of the Small Carpathians and their immediate surroundings),” the experts said. They added that up to five centimeters of snow lies in most of eastern Slovakia and on the leeward sides of the mountains.
In the places where the most precipitation fell, the snow cover is around ten centimeters, on the mentioned windward local meteorologists record 15 to 20 centimeters of new snow.
SHMÚ further informed that during Sunday, November 24, warmer air will begin to flow over Slovakia, which will cause a gradual melting of the snow cover outside the mountainous areas at the beginning of the new week.
