Employers will have an obligation to provide a contribution to the sports activities of employees’ children. The new regulation will apply to companies with more than 49 employees, while the maximum amount of the contribution is set at 275 euros per year for all children of the employee. This follows from the amendment to the Labor Code of the deputies of the coalition SNS, which was signed by the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini.
“The introduction of this obligation is based on an analysis of current trends in public health and findings that indicate that insufficient physical activity in childhood leads to an increase in chronic diseases, such as obesity and diabetes at an early age. The bill therefore supports the participation of children in organized sports activities, which will ensure not only their physical but also their psychological development,” the deputies said in the submitted material.
According to them, the proposal is a continuation of the current legislation, which gives employers the opportunity to provide such a contribution. The amendment establishes a binding obligation, while its goal is increase the number of children involved in regular sports activities. Coalition MPs also expect a positive economic impact on sports organizations, in which there should be an increase in economic activity.
