2-month-old baby is taken dead with bruises to hospital; police investigate

One 2 month old baby was taken dead by his parents to a hospital in Palmas, Tocantins, this Friday morning (22).

A 17-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man took their daughter to Dona Regina Hospital and Maternity. At the unit, the medical team noticed that the child had some bruises on the face, eye and chestand called the Military Police

According to the Tocantins PM, at around 5:30 am, agents were called to a suspicious death. The doctors tried to perform resuscitationbut were unsuccessful.

The victim’s father reported to the police that, in the early hours of the morning, the mother breastfed the child and placed him in the crib, but baby didn’t sleep. The man said he left the child on the couch for a few seconds and went to the bathroom. Upon returning, noticed that the child was limp.

The couple would have gone to the residence of their boss to ask for help, the owner of the farm where they live, and stayed for about 30 minutes trying to contact the man. The man and his parents took the baby to the hospital.

The police took the parents to the Police Station to provide clarification. The Civil Police investigates the case and “parents respond to the First Flagrant Center in custody“, as reported by the Military Police.

The Tocantins Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that the 1st Specialized Homicide and Personal Protection Division is leading the investigations to determine the causes of death.

The baby’s body was sent to the Medical-Legal Institute (IML) for carrying out necroscopic examinations. The State Department of Health (SES-TO) regretted what happened and is available to the family in this moment of mourning.
