In a live broadcast held this Saturday (23), former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) mocked the investigations by the Federal Police (PF) that investigated an alleged coup d’état that would involve the murder of public figures such as President Lula (PT) and Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
“This coup story is absurd. Are you going to stage a coup with a retired general and four senior officers? For God’s sake. Who was coordinating this? Where are the troops? Where are the Armed Forces? Don’t put a horn on a horse’s head,” said Bolsonaro while getting a haircut in São Miguel dos Milagres (AL).
“Coups now no longer happen with tanks, they happen with taxis. And it seems that the kidnapping didn’t happen because there wasn’t a taxi at the time. For God’s sake. This creative PF by Alexandre de Moraes is a joke”, he continued.
In a new criticism of Moraes, Bolsonaro says the country is under dictatorship
When commenting on Donald Trump’s victory in the United States presidential elections this year, Bolsonaro spoke about freedom of expression and mentioned Alexandre de Moraes again.
“That [vitória de Trump] It’s very good for us. Here in Brazil we are losing freedom of expression. The dictatorship is increasingly present here. And he is not head of the Executive, nor head of the Legislature. He is a person who is in the Judiciary and has caused us a lot of harm”, he said, referring to the minister.
The former president also criticized the STF’s sentences for those arrested for the January 8 protests, classifying them as disproportionate.
“17 years in jail? What cowardice. 17 years in prison for a woman. You made a mistake using lipstick, right?” said Bolsonaro, in reference to the case of hairdresser Débora Rodrigues dos Santos, 38, who has been in prison since March 2023 for writing “you lost, Mané” with lipstick on the statue of Justice. , which is in front of the STF building, during the events of January 8th. Débora has two children, one aged 10 and the other aged six.
Candidate in 2026
During the live broadcast, broadcast on the profile of Gilson Machado, his former Minister of Tourism, Bolsonaro said that he “will not give up on Brazil” and reaffirmed that he intends to run again for the presidency of Brazil in 2026, while trying to annul his conviction for ineligibility by the Court Superior Electoral Officer (TSE).
“The right returns [em 2026]. No one is safe anymore, despite cowardice and prisons. We came back to never go out again”, declared the former president.
