In the United Kingdom and Ireland, several roads are closed and many flights have been canceled due to Storm Bert. The depression is expected to affect Portugal at the end of Sunday. Six districts in the North will be under orange warning.
A blanket of white covers the landscape in the United Kingdom. This Saturday, the storm which is affecting the region, has caused snowfall and heavy rain. From north to south of the territory, there are areas under yellow warning and more than 20 flood alerts.
The north of Scotland, Wales and southeast England are the places with the most active warnings.
In England, there are closed roads and several cities in the country are under yellow warning, due to the ice, wind, rain and snow that hit the region.
At Newcastle airport, several flights are delayed and those flying to Scotland or Ireland have even ended up on the ground, as those countries are also being affected by the storm. In Ireland, thousands of homes, farms and businesses are without electricity due to the bad weather.
And in Portugal?
Portugal will not be directly affected by Storm Bert. However, a cold frontal surface associated with it will bring heavy rain and cause sea disturbances from the end of the day on Sunday.
O (IPMA) placed Viana do Castelo, Braga, Vila Real, Porto, Aveiro and Viseu under orange warning. All other districts in mainland Portugal will be under yellow warning.
