The government announced a new blockade of R$6 billion in the federal budget in order to comply with the fiscal framework. The numbers are in the last bimonthly revenue and expenditure assessment report for this year, presented this Friday (22) by secretaries of the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
Added to the other blockades made throughout the year, the government freeze reaches R$19.2 billion in 2024.
According to the economic team, the cut was necessary due to the increase in expenses with social security benefits.
Even so, a contingency, which is made when there is a risk of not meeting the fiscal target, was not necessary at this time.
These movements would allow the government’s primary result to remain within the target tolerance, but close to the lower band, which represents a deficit of around 0.25% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), around R$28 billion.
