A jury made up of eight women and four men ruled, through a civil trial, this Friday, that Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor sexually assaulted a woman in a hotel in Dublin, Ireland, in December 2018. After the sentencing, Nikita Hand said that “justice has been served”. She received the right to compensation of 250 thousand euros (R$ 1.5 million).

According to the Sky News portal, McGregor, 36, made no comment as he left the court after the jury’s decision. He later said in a statement that he had instructed his legal team to appeal the civil court ruling.

“I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all of the evidence that the Director of Public Prosecutions reviewed.” He then ended the statement by saying he was serious: “I am with my family, focused on my future.”

Regarding the episode, McGregor had already told the court that he had consensual sex with Nikita Hand in a hotel penthouse during the period in which the victim claims to have been a victim of abuse.

Emotional after the decision, Nikita Hand said that during the period in which the civil case was taking place, she lived a nightmare and stated that the case impacted not only her life, but also that of her daughter and closest friends. “I hope my story serves as a lesson and no matter how scared you are. No one should remain silent. I know justice has been served and I know I can move forward and look to the future.”

Han said she and a friend made contact with McGregor after a work Christmas party. They went to a party in a hotel penthouse room where drugs and alcohol were consumed. In court, she claimed that McGregor pinned her to the bed, strangled her three times and “brutally raped and beat her”.
