The minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) partially revoked this Saturday (23) the precautionary measure that prevented him from leaving his residence at night and on weekends.
Torres had requested last month the revocation of the measure to care for his mother Amelia Gomes da Silva Torres, 70 years old who is facing incurable cancer.
Moraes’ decision determines the flexibility of this measure so that he can “visit and accompany the mother in the care necessary to treat her health”. The minister restricts Torres’ movement from her home to her mother’s house and to the hospital where she is admitted.
Alexandre de Moraes emphasizes that the decision is provisional and also determines that the Criminal Executions Court of the Federal District be contacted to adopt permanent measures and also to send the weekly monitoring reports to the STF.
Torres was Minister of Justice of (PL) and was released in May 2023 by decision of Moraes himself. He had been in prison since January of the same year for alleged omission during the period in which he served as Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District.
