Once again, the top of the world belongs to the little fairy from Brazil – Rayssa Leal won the Tokyo stage of the Street League Skateboarding, the SLS, the sport’s main league. On the podium, the Brazilian surpassed the current Olympic champion, Coco Yoshizawa.
This is the 11th SLS stage title won by Rayssa, who is currently two-time world champion in the sport. The one played this Saturday (23) was the 18th final in a row played by the Brazilian athlete.
The only woman representing Brazil at SLS, Rayssa achieved a final score of 30.7, leaving Liz Akama in second, with 30.1, and Coco in third, with 29.4. Once again, the fairy shares the podium with two Japanese women, just like at the Paris Olympic Games.
Now champion, Rayssa is guaranteed qualification in the Super Crown final, between December 14th and 15th in São Paulo, Brazilian soil. The goal now is to win the third championship in the tournament.
A final
Rayssa reached the final after feeling her foot in the qualifiers, leaving fans apprehensive. In the first round of the stage’s heats, the fairy achieved a 7.2 rating, despite an error in the final maneuver.
In the second lap, the score rose to 7.5, after a mistake by skater Covell. In the third, there was no score, due to a wrong maneuver by Rayssa.
Taking advantage of a mistake by Rayssa, Japanese Coco Yoshizawa took first place, after receiving 9.1 for a perfect maneuver. Rayssa, then, needed 6.7 to become the stage champion.
With successes from Chloe and Liz Akama, Rayssa was off the podium, and everything depended on the last maneuver. She got a 7.9, which took her back to the highest place in the table and made her champion.
