The former star Ronaldo Nazarioknown as “Ronaldo Fenômeno”, an idol of the Brazilian national team and major clubs in Brazil and abroad, publicly admitted that he dreams of also shining outside the field, in charge of Brazilian football.
During the event that marked the Fundação Fenômenos charity auction, in São Paulo (SP), last Thursday (21), the five-time world champion said he was “extremely prepared” to assume the presidency of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
“For many years, I have been talking about my idea of one day being president of the CBF. That hasn’t changed, but we’ll wait for the right time. I am extremely prepared”, said the Phenomenon to journalists.

According to Ronaldo, “Brazilian football needs big changes”. “I’m not a candidate, there’s not even an election in sight [na CBF]. It’s just my will,” said the former player.
Ronaldo admitted that, since the time he was a professional athlete, he thought about one day commanding the highest football entity in the country.
“It’s a dream. Since I was a player, my teammates called me president. It’s still a distant thing, because we don’t know. The CBF is experiencing instability, we don’t know when an election can be called,” he said.

“So, I will wait, I will not speculate at all. But, in any case, more than ever, I am prepared for a possible new challenge”, guaranteed Ronaldo.
Currently, the CBF is chaired by Ednaldo Rodrigues, who took office in 2021, succeeding Antônio Carlos Nunes de Lima, Colonel Nunes. Before reaching the top of Brazilian football, Ednaldo commanded the Bahia Football Federation.
Guardiola in peace?
The information that Fenômeno wants to be president of the CBF was initially published by the Spanish newspaper Sport. According to the publication, Ronaldo could present his candidacy in the next CBF elections, which should take place in 2025.

The Spanish publication also reported that Ronaldo would like to see the Spaniard Pep Guardiolacurrent coach of Manchester City (England), as coach of the Brazilian national team. Guardiola, considered one of the greatest coaches in the history of world football, announced the renewal of his contract with the English club until 2026.
“You can’t get the cart in front of the donkey. Let’s see what will happen. I have lots of ideas if one day this happens. But we can’t speculate anything now”, said Ronaldo when asked about the possible “Pep plan”.

Ronaldo Nazário is considered one of the greatest Brazilian football players of all time. With the national team’s shirt, he won the 1994 (as a substitute) and 2002 (as an absolute starter, scoring two goals in the final against Germany) World Cups.

He was also runner-up in the world champion in 1998, in France, when he suffered a seizure hours before the final of the tournament against the host team (he played in the final, but Brazil lost 3-0). Ronaldo also played in the 2006 World Cup.
At club level, the striker made history in some of the main teams in Europe, such as PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands), Barcelona (Spain), Internazionale (Italy), Real Madrid (Spain) and Milan (Italy).
In Brazil, he was an idol among Cruzeiro fans, right at the beginning of his career, and Corinthians, his last club.
