Newly elected US President Donald Trump has chosen Republican congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer from Oregon as his candidate for the post of head of the Department of Labor. TASR took over the report from the AP agency.
Chavez-DeRemer, who was elected to Congress in 2022, in November close lost her re-election bid, when she defeated her Democrat Janelle Bynum. However, she won the election strong support from members trade unions in its district.
“Lori’s strong support from the business and employment community will ensure that the Department of Labor will be able to unite Americans of all walks of life for our program for unprecedented national success – to make America richer, more successful, stronger and more prosperous than ever!” Trump said in his statement.
