The British Armed Forces would be ready to face Russia “tonight” if President Vladimir Putin invaded another Eastern European country, according to a senior UK military official.
The statement was made by Rob Magowan, deputy chief of the British Defense Staff, and was made during a Parliamentary defense committee last Thursday (21).
“If the British Army were asked to fight tonight, they would fight tonight. And I don’t think anyone in this room should be under any illusion that if the Russians invaded Eastern Europe tonight, we would take them on in that fight.”
Magowan’s comment came shortly after Russia launched a nuclear-capable ballistic missile during an attack on Thursday (21) against Dnipro, in .
Later the same day, Putin said in a televised statement that the weapon was a medium-range non-nuclear weapon.
